Medieval Occupations in the Castle
Though the ladies of the Middle Ages were all housewives, the more important their husbands, the more helpers they had within their home -- the Castle.
Some of these helpers were: ladies in waiting, maids, cooks, a priest who might double up as tutor for the children, servants of all descriptions, a healer, etc.
The lords, who left the care of the home into their wives hands, had the more important people answering directly to them. Among those were the Steward, the Captain of the Guard, Men-at-arms, the Stable Master, etc.
Less important professions were: grooms, pages, huntsmen, soldiers, etc.
